Holz als nachhaltiger Rohstoff
Wood as a sustainable raw material
Cellulose-based fibres such as the Modal®/ MicroModal® we use are becoming increasingly popular in the textile industry. But what is cellulose anyway? Cellulose is the main component of plant cell walls and the most abundant molecule in nature. As a natural building block of the renewable raw material wood and all other plants, cellulose is biodegradable, meaning that cellulose-based fibres can be returned to the natural cycle at the end of their life cycle.
We source our cellulose-based fibres from the Austrian quality fibre manufacturer Lenzing, which uses beech wood from certified, sustainable forestry to produce the pulp. Healthy forests are of particular importance due to their numerous functions as an important ecosystem, which is why it is essential to treat them responsibly. The forest is not only a habitat for many animals and plants, but is also vital for us humans as a producer of oxygen. Trees in particular absorb a lot of CO2 during photosynthesis, bind it and make a significant contribution to reducing climate change.
