A

We define a promotion as an offer of goods limited in time and quantity that is sold to all interested parties only in normal household quantities.

A chemical compound of cellulose with acetic acid is called acetate. Fabrics made from acetate are characterized by a matt, shimmering sheen, a full feel, heat sensitivity and low moisture absorption.

The exaggerated defensive reaction of the body's immune system to certain, usually harmless environmental substances, so-called allergens, is known as an allergy. Allergies can cause various reactions in the body and can often be positively influenced by appropriate anti-allergenic clothing. Our comazo|earth underwear made from organic cotton is particularly gentle on the skin.

Workwear refers to special underwear that meets the specific requirements of a wide range of professions. Workwear is flame-retardant, has no electrostatic charging properties and is particularly tear-, cut- and puncture-resistant. Our comazo|protect workwear must meet the highest quality requirements and is certified by independent institutes.

B

Our balconette bra can be worn with or without straps, depending on the occasion and outerwear. The silicone band incorporated into the upper edge of the cups ensures optimum support at all times. Click here to go directly to our balconette bra.

Bamboo is a real alternative to cotton. The grass cells have a high proportion of cellulose in their cell walls, which ensures stability. It is precisely this stability that makes bamboo interesting for converting cellulose into textiles. Bamboo has an antibacterial effect. The bamboo fibers can quickly absorb moisture from the body. Bamboo clothing is ideal for work and summer wear. The fabric is also very elastic due to the bamboo construction. At the same time, it is extra robust. The bamboo fibers feel pleasantly dry on the skin at all times.

Bandeau bras look very similar to a wide band, are often strapless and therefore perfect to wear under off-the-shoulder dresses and tops. The straps are often removable to create even more flexibility.

We refer to products from our core range as basic items. These are available for several seasons in selected basic colors. These items are also available in changing fashion colors depending on the season.

Cotton is a natural fiber. The seed hairs of the cotton plant are spun, whereby the quality depends on several properties: staple length, fineness, strength, purity and color. Cotton is characterized by its softness, durability and tear resistance. It is easy to care for and in some cases even boil-proof. Cotton can be subjected to various finishing processes, see the terms cotton gassed, mercerized and supercombed.

Gassing, also known as flaming or singeing, is a finishing process. In this process, protruding hairs are mechanically lowered or scorched or flamed off, usually using a gas flame, giving the fabric a smooth, fine, clear appearance. It becomes more elegant and has a better grip.

In this finishing process, the cotton yarns are treated with cold caustic soda and stretched at the same time. The fibers are smoothed, giving them a durable, wash-resistant sheen and a silk-like feel, refined and elegant with high tensile strength.

This cotton has been combed several times to achieve a fine, smooth and firm look. Fabrics made from supercombed cotton are extremely light and have a high-quality feel.

Underwire-free bras offer flexibility, freedom of movement and a high level of comfort for smaller cups.

Organic cotton is grown organically in a controlled manner. It is free from chemical substances such as fertilizers or pesticides, particularly skin-friendly, soft and ideal for allergy sufferers.

Body is short for "body suit" and refers to one-piece, very tight-fitting underwear. The bodysuit usually has a press stud or hook fastening at the crotch. Depending on the fashion trend, the bodysuit is sometimes more and sometimes less popular.

The development of Bodymapping functional underwear is based on findings from sports science. The articles have zones that correspond to the patterns discovered in studies with regard to heat and moisture release from individual body zones during exercise. Areas in which the body perspires heavily are particularly moisture-wicking and airy.

Boxer shorts are wide-cut underpants with legs. They are available for both sexes, but are more popular for men. Boxer shorts are often worn in combination with a T-shirt as nightwear. They are available as woven boxer shorts or in fine jersey fabrics.

How women determine their chest circumference: Underbust circumference: Measure horizontally around your body under your chest. Chest circumference: Place the measuring tape horizontally on the largest part of your chest and measure the circumference.

How men determine their chest circumference: Measure under the armpits at the thickest part of the chest. For the best result, we recommend measuring directly on the body or wearing thin clothing for the measurement. Our size chart contains a nice drawing.

Underwired bras are particularly suitable for larger cup sizes. These bras are reinforced with fine plastic underwires in the lower cup area. This gives the breast optimum support and stabilizes it.

A bustier is a top that ends above the waist and holds the breast in place of a bra. They are available with preformed or molded cups. Bustiers are particularly suitable for small to medium bust sizes.

C

Man-made fibers are industrially produced fibers. A distinction is made between cellulosic man-made fibers such as viscose and modal and synthetic man-made fibers. These include polyester and polyamide, for example. The properties of man-made fibers can be controlled by their length, fineness and structure.

In the Comazo collection, we offer affordable basics for every day. In addition to the basic colors black, white and skin, seasonally changing fashion colors and designs are also available. Tough and demanding jobs require top-quality functional textiles: flame-retardant, tear-, cut- and puncture-resistant, protection against extreme heat and cold and minimal electrostatic charge. The items in the comazo|protect collection meet these requirements, which is why they are increasingly being used by authorities and special units as well as other demanding professional groups.

Cotton since 1901 is a lace yarn brand from Gerbr. Otto Baumwollfeinzwirnerei GmbH +Co KG. This is a high quality, long staple, contamination free cotton of European origin.

Bra cups are also known as cups.

D

"Design is the joy of beautiful underwear" is the motto under which Comazo develops fashionable and functional underwear for every day and all occasions - guaranteed to be of the highest quality and perfectly comfortable to wear. And best of all: your favorite underwear is also available in your favorite colors.

Diols are organic compounds that contain divalent alcohols ("dialcohols"). Diolen® is the brand name for a special synthetic fiber from the group of polyester fibers; it is characterized by particular tear resistance and is resistant to oxygen, light and high temperatures.

E

Spandex is also known under the brand names Lycra® or Dorlastan®. Lingerie often has a spandex content of 2 % - 6 % to ensure an exact fit with freedom of movement. It is similar to rubber, has a particularly high elastic stretch, 3 - 8 times its original length, but is much more durable and dyeable. Spandex is always processed together with another raw material. The aim is to give the textiles elasticity.

Electrostatic discharge is a very short and strong electrical current pulse, usually caused by frictional electricity, which is often perceived as a spark or discharge. People only feel this impulse from a strength of approx. 2000 V, but in some environments this is enough to cause fires or explosions, for example when handling flammable liquids, gases or dust. Our comazo|protect collection offers the right workwear to prevent electrostatic discharge.

The relief bra has a very wide underbust band and very wide straps to relieve pressure on the breasts.

F

The Fairtrade organization has set itself the task of improving working conditions for producers in developing countries. The standard is based on three fundamental values: economic, ecological and social. For certified farmers, the purchase of fairly traded raw materials means fair wages that are above world market prices, a Fairtrade bonus and a premium for organic production. In addition, child and forced labor, for example, are prohibited. The companies are regularly inspected for compliance with the Fairtrade guidelines.

Products whose raw materials come from fair trade bear a Fairtrade code, with which the product can be traced back to its origins.

"Your favorite underwear is also available in your favorite colors" Comazo only uses colors that are harmless to health for its underwear. All Comazo underwear bears the "Confidence in Textiles" seal in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

All fabrics consist of individual fibers. These only result in a fabric as a whole and after processing, i.e. spinning into yarns and subsequent knitting. There are different types of fibers:

Animal fibers, e.g. wool or silk

Vegetable fibers, e.g. cotton

Vegetable fibers, e.g. cotton Cellulosic man-made fibers, e.g. viscose or modal

Synthetic man-made fibers, e.g. Meryl®, Trevira Bioactive® or spandex

Fiber blends make it possible to combine the advantages of different fibers. New yarns with a new character, new look and new feel are created.

In addition to the standard underwear ranges, Comazo also offers so-called fashion ranges. These are only available for a limited time, usually for one season. They differ from the basics in terms of color, pattern, appliqués, cuts, etc. and are often only available in Comazo underwear stores.

Fine rib is a right/right knit fabric produced on circular knitting machines. It is an elastic and fine fabric that is used in the production of body-hugging underwear.

Functional underwear that promotes moisture transport ensures a dry feeling during heavy physical exertion. Sweat and moisture is transported away from the body to the top of the garment, where it can evaporate to keep the body and clothing dry.

Filaments are fibers of practically infinite length. Filaments include all man-made fibers as well as natural silk.

Functionalities of underwear are defined as certain modes of action of individual fabrics and materials as well as processing and finishing methods. For example, materials finished with silver technology have an odour-inhibiting effect in the event of perspiration, multi-layer fabric constructions ensure optimum climate regulation and moisture wicking and special fiber blends provide thermal functions.

The demands placed on functional underwear differ considerably from those of everyday underwear. The functionalities of underwear are defined as certain modes of action of individual fabrics and materials as well as processing and finishing methods. For example, materials finished with silver technology have an odor-inhibiting effect on perspiration, while multi-layer fabric constructions ensure optimum climate regulation and moisture wicking. Special fiber blends provide thermal functions. Bodymapping clothing ensures optimum climate regulation and moisture wicking, tailored to the respective body zones. Sports bras offer strong support for every type of sport and our seamless underwear wears like a second skin thanks to its almost seamless finish. You can find more information on functional underwear in our comazo|active and comazo|protect collections.

One or more fibers are spun into yarns. This intermediate textile product is further processed into a woven or knitted fabric or used for seams. Depending on their construction, spinning process, type of fiber, areas of application or raw materials used, different types of yarn can be distinguished, which are required for different purposes.

Knitting is a technique using at least two needles to create stitches using a yarn. In knitting, the stitches in a row form a surface called a knitted fabric. Knitted fabrics can be created using a wide variety of knitting patterns. Knitted fabrics adapt to the shape of the body and are very elastic and flexible compared to woven fabrics.

Woven fabric refers to textile surfaces made from at least two intersecting yarn systems. The yarns are arranged next to each other in looms or weaving machines, whereby there are transverse and longitudinal rows of yarn. The longitudinal rows of yarn are always pulled alternately under and over the transverse rows of yarn. In the underwear sector, woven fabrics are mainly used for the production of woven boxer shorts and woven pyjamas.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a globally recognized standard that places the highest demands on textiles in order to evaluate them as genuine and consistent natural textiles. For textiles to be awarded the GOTS certificate, this means, among other things, that they must consist of at least 90% pure natural fibers and contain a maximum of 10% synthetic fibers or viscose. The natural fibers from animals or plants must also come from controlled organic farming. You can find more information about the GOTS certificate on the official website www.global-standard.org

In 2009, Comazo took part in the "Size Germany" project as a partner of the Hohenstein Institute. More than 13,000 men, women and children between the ages of 6 and 87 were measured as part of a study on size changes and surveys of the German population. The result is the most precise determination criteria for the clothing sizes required for the German market. This made it possible to adjust and standardize clothing sizes even more precisely. To determine your underwear sizes, women and men need the chest circumference and the waist circumference, women also need the underbust circumference. To our size chart.

To ensure optimum support, bras with large cup sizes have special elements. For example, vertical stays are used at the sides for stabilization. In the front area, a wide fabric element under and between the cups, also known as a frame, provides additional support and relieves pressure on the breasts. Extra wide straps do not cut in.

Manual work stands for quality, durability and love for the product. Even though machine production processes have found their way into the industry worldwide, a lot is still made by hand in textile production today and great importance is attached to this. Manual work offers a number of advantages, especially for the customer: When textiles are cut by hand with a band knife, as is still done every day at Comazo, fabrics can be cut in such a way that the pattern continues perfectly over the seams in the finished product.

Due to its many positive properties, hemp is one of the oldest useful and ornamental plants in the world and has been used to produce textiles for several thousand years. Hemp fibers are obtained from the bast of hemp plants. As the hemp fibers form large cavities that separate the layers of air from each other, hemp clothing provides pleasant coolness in summer and cozy warmth in winter. In addition, hemp textiles can absorb up to 30% moisture without feeling wet. Another positive effect is due to the natural greasiness of the fibers: Rain beads off for a very long time before it is absorbed and the clothing has a dirt-repellent and antistatic effect. In terms of UV protection, hemp is the unbeatable natural textile; it offers 95% UV protection, which is particularly appreciated by fair and sensitive skin types. Thanks to state-of-the-art extraction and processing of the fibers, hemp textiles are no longer necessarily rough and colorless, but comfortable to wear and available in beautiful colors. When extracting the raw materials, attention is generally paid to sustainability and humane working conditions. Hemp products are often also Fairtrade or GOTS-certified. In addition to pure hemp textiles, there are also blended fabrics, e.g. with cotton, silk or linen. As with modern functional clothing, the positive properties of the individual fibers can be optimally combined.

The manufacturer is the producer of a product. As a fully integrated manufacturer, Comazo is involved in the entire process, from raw material extraction to basic material production, processing, delivery and distribution. Each product can be traced back to its origins at all stages. Large parts of our production are done by hand to further increase the level of quality.

In traditional retail, the retailer sells items in his store or department store that he purchases from the producer. In the structure of manufacturer sales, there are no middlemen and the producer himself offers his goods to the end consumer. They purchase quality products at manufacturer prices.

In our Comazo manufacturer outlets, you will receive personal advice and competent contacts. You can try on and compare all products there. We will be happy to measure you and determine the right size for you. Why don't you take a look?

Hollow fibers are fibers that are cylindrical in shape and have a hollow space in the middle. These fibers have a high moisture absorption capacity and have an insulating effect. Clothing with these fibers is mainly used in functional textiles, for example for thermal clothing.

Underwear with a special hygiene function is very hygienic thanks to its generous cut on the one hand and the fabrics and materials used on the other. Underwear with firm cuffs ensures a comfortable and secure fit, while fabrics finished with silver technology provide an antibacterial effect. Hygienic underwear is not always boil-proof, because thanks to high-tech materials and innovative detergents, temperatures above 60° C are no longer required these days. Hygienic underwear is available in the comazo|platin collection as required.

Controlled organic animal husbandry (cbT) includes species-appropriate animal husbandry and feeding as well as the avoidance of fattening aids. Certified organic animal husbandry requires generous, alternating pasture areas and a low stocking density for animals. Fattening aids and the use of pesticides are prohibited. The economy is close to nature in compliance with the ecological load limits. State-recognized, independent inspection bodies are audited annually, and organic producers and processors are responsible for compliance with the stricter production and processing guidelines.

Climate-regulating functions in textiles are also known as "phase change management". This means that the textiles always ensure the right feel-good temperature: they warm where warmth is required and cool where pleasant coolness is desired. This function is made possible in various ways. For example, bodymapping garments are knitted differently in different areas of the body, naturally without irritating seams, in order to wick away moisture in areas that sweat more and keep the body warm and dry. This effect can also be achieved through different material combinations: two-layer fabric constructions in which the side next to the skin attracts moisture and releases it to the outer layer of fabric.

We refer to our individual underwear lines that are offered under the umbrella brand "Comazo - We live favorite underwear" as collections: comazo, comazo|black, comazo|platin, comazo|active, comazo|earth, comazo|protect.

The compression bra fits very tightly to keep the breast still after surgery and to promote wound healing.

The cup size is calculated from the measurements of the underbust and the breast at its strongest point. Please refer to our size chart for the best measurement and exact information.

The human body can be divided into individual zones where more or less heat is released under stress. For example, you sweat more under the armpits or in the chest area, as more body heat is released here, while the hips or back are cooler areas of the body. Bodymapping underwear relies on moisture-wicking fabrics and temperature-regulating knitwear for warm body zones, while thermal fabrics and heat-retaining knitwear are used for colder body zones. To ensure maximum comfort, the individual body zones are knitted into the fabric, avoiding unnecessary seams and making the garment feel like a second skin.

A corselet is a "light" corset: it is not laced but fastened at the back with hooks and shapes the bust and waist as well as the legs and some of the thighs. It is not as tight and snug as a normal corset and is more of a shapewear than a corset.

A corset is a very stiff bodice that used to be reinforced with herringbone and is now reinforced with metal. It shapes the bust and waist and is laced at the back and fastened at the front with hooks. Nowadays it is often worn under dresses or as a top.

L

Lamb's wool is the wool obtained from the first shearing of a lamb. Lamb's wool is used to make a fluffy and very warm yarn, often in combination with polyamide and acrylic for price reasons and to increase durability and tear resistance. Plasma treatment (or superwash) is an environmentally friendly chlorine-free finish that beautifies the fibers and brings positive yarn properties such as tear resistance and skin-friendliness. This treatment makes wool garments less itchy, less matted and easy to wash in the washing machine.

Long underpants are particularly suitable as underwear in winter due to their good thermal properties. However, special functional underwear should be used for winter sports, as it offers both thermal and moisture-wicking functions.

Laser cut technology enables precise, sharp and fast processing of textiles. The laser used cuts very hot through materials and fuses the cutting edges. This refines the textile, as the fabric can no longer fray. Without machined ends, there are no annoying, bulky seams.

Layer 1 is the layer that has direct contact with the skin, e.g. functional underwear such as sports bras, seamless underwear, etc. The main task of this layer is to transport moisture. Excess moisture is transported to the outside where it can evaporate. The body remains dry and warm.

Layer 2 is the intermediate layer between underwear and outerwear, including T-shirts, sports jerseys, body-mapping clothing, shirts, etc. This layer offers thermo-regulating properties and is responsible for keeping the heat close to the body. It should also be breathable.

Layer 3 is the outermost layer of clothing, e.g. soft shell jackets, windbreakers, etc. The purpose of outerwear is to protect the body from weather conditions such as wind, rain and cold. It must be light, comfortable and pleasant to wear and at the same time breathable and moisture-wicking.

The layer principle is a layering model for functional clothing. Three layers of clothing fulfill different functions and work together optimally. It is important that all layers are coordinated with each other and that no layer is neglected. Layer 1 is the layer that has direct contact with the skin, e.g. functional underwear such as bodymapping, 777 ski underwear or seamless underwear from comazo|active. The main task of this layer is to transport moisture. Excess moisture is transported to the outside where it can evaporate. The body remains dry and warm. Layer 2 as a mid-layer offers thermoregulating properties and layer 3 protects the body from external influences such as wind and rain.

Linen is made from flax fibers; depending on the proportion of flax fibers in the fabric, it is referred to as half linen (at least 40%) or full linen. Linen has now been almost completely replaced by the finer cotton, but has become increasingly important again in recent years as a natural fiber. In the past, linen was often used for bed and household linen as it is very tear-resistant and easy to care for. Today, it is also increasingly being used in the manufacture of clothing.

At Comazo, we believe that your favorite underwear not only has a modern, appealing look, but also the highest quality materials and workmanship, a perfect fit, maximum comfort and durability. Our employees and customers have already found their favorite underwear. We want everyone to take their favorite Comazo underwear out of their wardrobe first because it gives them the best feeling. Real favorite underwear.

Lurex® is an established manufacturer of specific mineral fibers. Polyester yarns are coated with aluminum to give them a metallic sheen. The Lurex fibers are processed as metallic yarns and as fancy yarns, with or without metal. The shiny metallic yarns are often used for effect seams and fabrics, for example for bras, designer dresses or elegant stockings. Lurex fibres are available in almost all colors and with special effects, such as transparency effects.

Lycra® is a stretchy synthetic fiber, also known as elastane. Lycra is a protected brand name. Fabrics containing Lycra® fibers adapt perfectly to the contours of the body and fit the body like a second skin. These fibers are particularly suitable for use in underwear and swimwear.

Lyohemp® is obtained from controlled, organically grown hemp. Lyohemp® is a registered trademark of the Thuringian Institute for Textile and Plastics Research (TITK) in Rudolstadt. Only the flowers and seed heads are used in production, which generates additional income for hemp farmers through the sale of the plant stalks. Hemp fiber is a sustainable alternative to cotton because it is an extremely fine and skin-friendly fiber.

M

Corn fiber is a natural, continuously renewable and very easily degradable plant fiber that is made from the corn plant. Corn fiber has many excellent properties: it is very fine, soft and smooth, very skin-friendly and easy to care for. Thanks to its good heat storage capacity and very good insulating properties, corn fiber is perfect for children's clothing, sportswear, socks and outerwear.

Material means all the ingredients of the product, such as fabrics, seam yarns, applications, etc. All components of Comazo products are of exquisite quality, because they make a decisive contribution to a pleasant wearing experience and turn Comazo underwear into your favorite underwear.

Maxi briefs are also known as panties. They are straight-cut briefs with short legs that fit close to the body.

Merino wool is obtained from the wool of the Merino sheep, which is a fine-wool sheep breed. Merino wool is characterized by its fineness and softness. Merino wool is breathable in summer and insulating in winter, making it perfect for all seasons.

Advantages and important properties of merino wool:

  • does not scratch the skin
  • is biodegradable
  • the texture remains the same
  • can keep you warm despite absorbing moisture
  • transports moisture
  • can absorb up to a third of its dry weight in moisture

Care instructions:

  • do not apply pressure when washing, a wool program in the washing machine would be optimal
  • use detergent without enzymes
  • do not use bleach or fabric softener
  • do not tumble dry

Meryl-Skinlife® is a synthetic hollow fiber in which extremely fine amounts of silver are embedded. This gives the fiber a particularly antibacterial and odor-inhibiting effect. It is well tolerated and also ideal for allergy sufferers and sensitive skin.

Fabrics with Meryl® guarantee an optimum fit without constricting and are extremely hard-wearing.

Mesh is a fine, partially transparent mesh fabric that is mainly used in functional textiles such as sports bras, sportswear and sports shoes.

Microfibers are all extremely finely spun fibers made from polyamide, polyester, modal or other synthetic fibers that are finer than silk. Microfibers are filaments and fiber yarns whose individual threads are up to 60 times smaller than a human hair. Microfibers have extremely fine pores and air pockets that transport body moisture to the surface of the fabric, where it evaporates.

MicroModal® is an even finer version of the normal modal fiber. Knitted fabrics with MicroModal® are extremely soft and light. In addition, the fibers are produced in an environmentally friendly way from local beech wood.

Girdle underwear is the name given to special, figure-shaping underwear for women. The purpose of this underwear is to shape the silhouette and conceal problem areas. They are available as light, medium or strong shaping underwear, depending on their firmness and shaping power. They are particularly shaping on the stomach and bottom and, depending on the design, also on the thighs thanks to their firm fit and are perfect to wear under figure-hugging outerwear.

The mini brief is an extremely tight brief shape. It has the shape of a panty, but is cut even tighter: at the waist it barely exceeds the pelvic bone and it doesn't completely cover the bottom either. They fit perfectly under tight hipster jeans.

The minimizer bra is a special bra that makes large bust sizes appear smaller and shapes the décolleté attractively.

Modal® is a special viscose fiber from the Austrian quality fiber manufacturer Lenzing. The traditional company looks back on a similarly long history as Comazo and also appreciates the same values: Sustainability, innovation and tradition. The fibers are produced in-house from 100% natural cellulose using a modified viscose process and follow the principle of sustainability. Modal® is particularly suitable for underwear and other close-to-skin garments due to its uniquely soft feel and various functions. MicroModal® is even finer than normal Modal fibers. Modal® is also frequently used in blended fabrics and functional underwear.

Characteristics:

  • soft, dimensionally stable and smooth surface
  • high color brilliance
  • easy to care for
  • skin-friendly
  • soft, supple, silk-like feel
  • smooth, cool surface touch
  • silky, elegant look
  • low tendency to swell, therefore very breathable
  • more tear-resistant, more durable and higher wet strength than viscose

The fiber is also characterized by very good moisture absorption and release, which prevents electrostatic charging when worn. At around 60%, the water retention capacity of modal fibers is close to that of cotton. Due to the structure of the fiber, it has a low water retention capacity and is therefore quick-drying.

TENCEL™ brand modal fibers with Eco Pure technology are produced using a proven, chlorine-free bleaching process for pulp and fibers. It is produced exclusively in Austria, mainly from beech wood from sustainably managed forests in Central and Eastern Europe. These fibers with Eco Pure technology tend to be softer than conventionally bleached TENCEL™ Modal fibers and are very suitable for underwear, loungewear, bedding and more. The TENCEL™ Modal fibers are identifiable with Eco Pure technology. Special identification technology helps here so that the eco fibers can be identified at all stages of the textile manufacturing process.

Shaping bras shape the breasts and create an attractive cleavage. Depending on the size of the breast, shaping bras can either have an enlarging or reducing effect.

In molding, underwear is thermally preformed, i.e. "hollows" are formed in the underwear using heat. This creates space for the breasts in bras without the use of seams. Men's underwear is also often molded. Molded underwear offers maximum comfort and is rated as very comfortable.

Mulesing is a painful method of protecting sheep from fly attacks.

In the procedure named after John W. H. Mules, a V-shaped piece of skin is removed from around the sheep's tail without anesthesia. In addition, the tail is docked above the third caudal vertebra. This leads to a tightening of the anus-tail fold and thus to less accumulation of fluid, excrement and urine, which greatly favor fly maggot infestation. Flies are attracted to wool soiled with feces and urine. The flies then lay their maggots in open wounds of a sheep, which feed on the host's flesh. The resulting myiasis, which is fatal in many cases, is a major economic problem for sheep farming. Alternatives to mulesing are already being researched and put into practice. These mainly include non-surgical methods:

  • intradermal injections of proteins
  • targeted sheep breeding with safe insecticides that do not harm meat or wool
  • fly control with biological methods
  • so-called plastic staples that tighten the sheepskin

N

Natural fibers are all fibers that are obtained from plants, animals or minerals and are not chemically modified during production. Cellulosic fibers, such as viscose, although they are made from natural raw materials, are not considered natural fibers as they are produced synthetically. The most common natural fibers are wool, cotton, silk, jute and linen.

The straps of the neckholder bra do not go over the shoulders, but are placed around the neck. With a halterneck bra, the back remains free and the décolleté is lifted and shaped. This bra shape is particularly suitable under halterneck tops and dresses and is also very popular for swimwear.

Antibacterial fabrics finished with silver technology are used to produce underwear that provides relief for sensitive skin and neurodermatitis in particular. The fabrics are knitted on circular knitting machines to avoid unnecessary seams and minimize friction on the skin.

This is a bra that has neither straps nor a back closure. It is recommended under skin-tight and very tight clothing. Cup-only bras are more suitable for smaller cup sizes. See also adhesive cup bra or stick-on bra.

O

Outerwear refers to items of clothing that are generally not worn directly on the skin but over underwear. Comazo also produces outerwear, namely T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts for men, women and children.

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a globally recognized, independent testing and certification system for textiles tested for harmful substances.

The OEKO-Tex® Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textiles tested for harmful substances and is the most widely used in the world. Products with this seal of approval are classified as harmless. The garment is only certified according to OEKO-Tex® Standard 100 if all ingredients of the end product, including seam yarns, prints, decorative materials and labels, meet the required criteria. Compliance with the standard is checked annually. The more intensive the contact of the textile with the skin, the stricter the limit values that must be adhered to.

The textiles are tested for banned and restricted substances, substances that are suspected of being hazardous to health but are not yet covered by law and precautionary parameters such as allergenic substances. In addition, all products must have a skin-friendly pH value and good color fastness.

The material was originally developed for space travel and was later made available for other purposes as Space Certified technology. Materials with Outlast® offer exceptionally high wearing comfort, as they absorb excess body heat when too much is produced and release it back to the body as required.

Properties:

  • no overheating
  • no cooling down
  • hardly any perspiration
  • even heat distribution
  • active temperature equalization

P

Protective underwear is special underwear with special functions that is particularly suitable for certain occupational groups, such as firefighters, forestry work, laboratories and many more. The materials and workmanship meet the highest standards to ensure maximum safety. Compliance with the requirements is regularly checked and certified by independent testing institutes.

Underwear with short legs that is cut straight at the waist is called a pant. The cut is slightly more generous for men than for women.

Panties are also known as maxi briefs. They are cut straight at the waist and have very short, straight-cut legs. Panties are skin-tight and are available for women.

The ability of garments to adapt to the contours of the body is known as the fit and is decisive for wearing comfort. It is determined by the clothing sizes.

Vegetable fibers are obtained from the stems, trunks and barks of plants. After extraction and processing, they can be further processed into fabrics and ropes.

The care label is usually printed on the packaging of the garments or sewn inside. It indicates what needs to be observed when washing and drying to ensure a long service life for the textiles. We have summarized the most important information and tips on correct washing for you in our laundry blog.

When individual fibers come loose from threads in fabrics and form small pills on the surface, it is called pilling. Pilling is encouraged by the use of washing machines and dryers. Very delicate textiles should therefore be washed by hand. You can find more information on this in the care label on the laundry.

Polyacrylic is a fiber that is produced from acrylic nitrite and belongs to the chemical fibers. The fibers are very fluffy and therefore look very similar to wool. They are warm, soft and crease-resistant. Polyacrylic fibers can also be used for blends, e.g. with cotton or wool. This group includes Dralon® and Dolan®, for example.

Advantages:

  • high heat retention
  • capacity crease-resistant
  • quick drying
  • high color brilliance
  • retains its shape
  • very elastic

Disadvantages:

  • very low strength
  • low moisture absorption

Polyamide is a chemical fiber made from crude oil. It is very tear-resistant and is therefore often used for demanding applications such as bras, lingerie, gowns, etc. This group includes nylon, Perlon®, Tactel®, Meryl®, etc.

Polyester is a man-made fiber and is obtained from crude oil. The fiber is extremely tear and abrasion resistant and hardly absorbs any moisture. This group includes Diolen®, Trevira® and others.

Properties:
  • very light fiber with high elasticity
  • good resilience
  • high tear and abrasion resistance
  • dimensionally stable
  • crease-resistant
  • high color brilliance
  • quick drying hardly any pilling

Creation:

Polyester chips are melted at temperatures of around 280°C and then spun. After spinning, the smooth filaments are usually textured or cut into spun fibers. The liquid mass is then passed through a line to a cold air shaft, where it is spun into its fiber form and solidifies due to the drop in temperature. As soon as they have reached the right strength, the newly obtained fibers are stretched and rolled. Polyester is easy-care, quick-drying, hard-wearing and dries quickly. Polyester clothing is often used in sportswear, functional clothing and outdoor clothing. Socks made of polyester have very good breathability and optimum moisture transport.

The finished underwear items are referred to as products. The individual products are decided according to product groups, e.g. men's and women's, but also according to colors, sizes, etc.

COOLMAX® EcoMade technology is made from 100% recycled resources. This polyester fiber can be produced from either 100% textile waste or recycled PET bottles. Thanks to this technology, the clothing has a moisture-wicking effect and stays cool and dry. It is used for denim, active wear, socks, etc.

Products that belong together due to their appearance, finish or functions are grouped together in product lines.

The push-up bra is a special underwired bra with small pads incorporated into the cups. Depending on the model, the pads can be removed. The bra makes the breasts appear larger and lifts them strongly. Push-up bras are suitable for small to medium cup sizes.

The ramie plant originates from East and Southeast Asia and is used to produce fibers for natural textiles. It is one of the most important natural fibers worldwide. Fabrics made from ramie are slightly silky and very similar to linen. Due to very complex processing, some of which cannot yet be automated, ramie fabrics are usually somewhat more expensive than other natural textiles.

The LYCRA® T400® EcoMade fiber comes from recycled plastics and renewable plant resources. It can be used in the same fabric concepts as the original fiber on which it is based. It is used for denim or activewear.

The old PET bottles, ocean plastic and broken fishing nets are collected, sorted and cleaned. They are then shredded, melted down and spun into new fibers. These are further processed into yarn and then used to produce new textiles. It is used for sportswear and functional clothing.

The pioneering REFIBRA™ technology involves upcycling cotton scraps from clothing production. These cotton scraps are converted into cotton pulp. A significant proportion - up to a third - is added to wood pulp, and the combined raw material is processed into new TENCEL™ Lyocell virgin fibers for the production of fabrics and garments.

In industrial production, circular knitting is knitted on special circular knitting machines. These are particularly suitable for very fine knitted fabrics, whereby the thickness of the finished knitted fabric depends on the thickness of the yarn used, the fibers and the knitting weave.

Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) ensures the welfare of the sheep and the land on which they graze. The RWS requires that all locations are certified, from the wool farmer to the seller in the final business-to-business transaction. Normally, the last stage to be certified is the garment manufacturer or brand. Retailers (business-to-consumer) do not have to be certified. Companies are certified according to the animal welfare, land management and social modules of the RWS. Subsequent stages of the supply chain are certified according to the requirements of the Content Claim Standard. If you would like to be certified according to the RWS, you can contact one of the listed certification bodies. Comazo products are also RWS certified.

Trevira Bioactive® fibers have permanent bioactive properties. They prevent bacteria from multiplying in or on the fiber and thus improve hygiene. Odor formation is prevented even under heavy use and Trevira Bioactiv® also ensures an all-round fresh feeling.

TRIWITEX® is a specially developed, patented spinning process based on core yarn technology. The fiber yarns are spun around the robust filament. The fiber that was previously in the core is wrapped around the fiber and is now on the outside. The fiber now lies as a new core in the middle, so that it is optimally protected. TRIWITEX® yarn with a wool core and synthetic fibers only retains the positive properties of the wool, not the negative ones. As a result, the synthetic fiber binds the protruding wool fibers into the yarn and at the same time makes them more abrasion and tear resistant than pure wool yarn.

The process uses the advantages of wool and other natural and synthetic fibers to develop hard-wearing and durable functional yarns for different areas of application. Thanks to this technology, the yarns are versatile and can therefore be used for various industries and applications. The materials can be selected and customized to suit the application. A wide range of functionalizations such as heat and cut protection, antistatic properties and protection against mechanical impacts can be incorporated.

The main component of plant cell walls is called cellulose. Cellulose occurs very frequently as a natural raw material and is used in a variety of chemical industries, such as the production of cellulose chemical fibers.

The starting material for cellulose fibers is cellulose, which is mainly obtained from the cellulose-rich woods of spruce and beech trees or from waste from cotton spinning mills.

With the help of caustic soda and carbon disulphide, the cellulose is liquefied into a spinning mass, then pressed through nozzles and spun into filaments. Due to the natural raw material, cellulose man-made fibers are very similar to cotton in terms of their properties. Modal fibers are modified viscose fibers. They have a higher strength and improved usage properties than viscose fibers.

Certificates are used for quality assurance, consumers can rely on these standards and have more security when buying certified products. The quality of Comazo products is checked in ongoing tests and by independent institutes. Depending on their intended use, they have to meet different criteria in order to be awarded various certificates and quality seals.
