The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a globally recognized, independent testing and certification system for textiles tested for harmful substances.

The OEKO-Tex® Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textiles tested for harmful substances and is the most widely used in the world. Products with this seal of approval are classified as harmless. The garment is only certified according to OEKO-Tex® Standard 100 if all ingredients of the end product, including seam yarns, prints, decorative materials and labels, meet the required criteria. Compliance with the standard is checked annually. During the test, the more intensive the contact of the textile with the skin, the stricter the limit values that must be adhered to.

The textiles are tested for banned and restricted substances, substances that are suspected of being hazardous to health but are not yet covered by law and precautionary parameters such as allergenic substances. In addition, all products must have a skin-friendly pH value and good color fastness.

The independent OEKO-TEX® STeP certification is specially tailored to production facilities at all processing stages in the textile and leather industry.

STeP stands for Sustainable Textile & Leather Production and is a certification system for environmentally friendly and socially responsible production facilities along the supply chain. The aim of STeP by OEKO-TEX® is to continuously improve production conditions and occupational safety in all areas of the company. STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified production facilities make an important contribution to ensuring that products along the value chain can be awarded the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label.

Unlike other certification systems, STeP enables a holistic view of production conditions from a sustainable perspective. The independent OEKO-TEX® institutes carry out the analysis and scoring within the framework of six modules: Chemical Management, Environmental Performance, Environmental Management, Social Responsibility, Quality Management and Occupational Health & Safety. The basis for STeP certification is the fulfillment of defined minimum requirements as set out in the STeP Standard Annex 10.

Quality management

The ISO 9001 standard is a guideline that defines quality management requirements to which companies can voluntarily commit themselves.

The aim is to offer more customer-oriented products. In addition to customer orientation, other principles are also taken into account: the quality of management, the involvement of company employees in decision-making, well thought-out processes and workflows, professional supplier and customer relationships and fact-based decision-making. The audits for our quality management take place annually. Comazo has repeatedly been awarded the ISO seal. Our certified quality management system shows that quality orientation determines our thoughts and actions in every sub-process and thus gives our customers a high level of security.

Business Social Compliance Initiative

BSCI stands for “Business Social Compliance Initiative” and is an organization that develops common European codes of conduct and monitoring systems for social standards. The code is intended to ensure the protection of employee rights.

Membership is voluntary, but companies can prove that they and their suppliers respect and comply with social and ethical standards. What is taken for granted in Germany is still uncharted territory for some countries and the Code of Conduct is therefore based on 13 elements: Management practices, documentation, working hours, remuneration, child and forced labor, freedom of association, discrimination, working conditions health and social facilities, occupational safety and environmental protection. Independent certification bodies regularly check the self-imposed compliance with the BSCI standards.

Global Organic Textile Standard

Our GOTS-certified products are labeled separately on the product.

GOTS was developed by the world's leading textile associations as a seal of quality and identifies ecologically and socially responsible textiles made from natural fibers.

The GOTS seal is available in two different versions. The “organic” label is awarded to products with a cotton content of at least 95%. The second GOTS seal with the note “Made from organic”, on the other hand, stands for the certification of products with a lower organic cotton content. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a globally recognized standard that places the highest demands on textiles in order to evaluate them as genuine and consistent natural textiles. For example, a GOTS-certified product must consist of at least 90% pure natural fibers and may contain a maximum of 10% synthetic fibers or viscose, which are otherwise used for seams, cuffs or labels, for example. In addition, at least 70% of the natural fibers must come from plants or animals from controlled organic farming. There are also strict requirements for dyes, auxiliaries and finishing processes, which must not contain any heavy metals, among other things. As a rule, ingredients, accessories and yarns must also be made from natural materials and can therefore only be used to a limited extent. You can find more information about the GOTS certificate on the official website at www.global-standard.org.

Ecologically and socially fair

Fairtrade aims to reduce imbalances in global trade and recognizes textiles whose cotton has been grown in a socially fair and sustainable way.

The Fairtrade standard is based on three essential values: economy, ecology and social responsibility. With this certification, Comazo supports the Fairtrade organization and makes an important contribution to improving working conditions in the cotton producing countries. Fairtrade-certified farmers receive fair wages, a Fairtrade surcharge and a premium for organic production. During cultivation, attention is paid to sustainability with regard to water, vegetation, fauna and soil. Compliance with the standards is regularly monitored.

Certification requires Comazo to ensure absolute transparency throughout the entire supply chain and all product components. Every comazo|earth product can be traced back to its origins using its Fairtrade code. Further information at www.fairtrade-deutschland.de
