The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a globally recognized, independent testing and certification system for textiles tested for harmful substances.

The OEKO-Tex® Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textiles tested for harmful substances and is the most widely used in the world. Products with this seal of approval are classified as harmless. The garment is only certified according to OEKO-Tex® Standard 100 if all ingredients of the end product, including seam yarns, prints, decorative materials and labels, meet the required criteria. Compliance with the standard is checked annually. During the test, the more intensive the contact of the textile with the skin, the stricter the limit values that must be adhered to.

The textiles are tested for banned and restricted substances, substances that are suspected of being hazardous to health but are not yet covered by law and precautionary parameters such as allergenic substances. In addition, all products must have a skin-friendly pH value and good color fastness.

The independent OEKO-TEX® STeP certification is specially tailored to production facilities at all processing stages in the textile and leather industry.

STeP stands for Sustainable Textile & Leather Production and is a certification system for environmentally friendly and socially responsible production facilities along the supply chain. The aim of OEKO-TEX® STeP is to continuously improve production conditions and occupational safety in all areas of the company. OEKO-TEX®  STeP certified production facilities make an important contribution to ensuring that products along the value chain can be awarded the OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN label.

Unlike other certification systems, STeP enables a holistic view of production conditions from a sustainable perspective. The independent OEKO-TEX® institutes carry out the analysis and scoring within the framework of six modules: Chemical Management, Environmental Performance, Environmental Management, Social Responsibility, Quality Management and Occupational Health & Safety. The basis for STeP certification is the fulfillment of defined minimum requirements as set out in the STeP Standard Annex 10.

Certified quality management according to ISO 9001

Quality starts with well-organised processes. Comazo’s quality management system is certified by TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.

The certification covers the design, production and distribution of women’s, children’s and men’s underwear, nightwear, homewear and lingerie, as well as workwear and protective underwear.

ISO 9001 sets out requirements for structured quality management. These include a focus on customer requirements, clear responsibilities, defined workflows and the continual improvement of processes. This helps us meet requirements systematically and further develop our operations.

An audit confirmed that our quality management system meets the requirements of the standard. The certification applies to the management system within the stated scope and is not a certification mark for individual products.

amfori – our membership

Comazo is a member of amfori, an international business association that supports companies in managing their supply chains responsibly.

Through amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), the association offers a system for assessing and improving social conditions in global supply chains. It focuses on the rights and working conditions of people at production sites.

Social audits help identify areas requiring action at individual production sites and guide the development of improvement measures. They reflect conditions at the time of the assessment. amfori BSCI is not a product certification.

For further information, visit amfori.

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

Our GOTS-certified products are clearly identified on the respective product pages. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an internationally recognised standard for processing textiles made from organically produced natural fibres. It combines requirements for the fibres used with environmental and social criteria for textile processing.

GOTS distinguishes between two label grades: The “organic” grade requires at least 95% of the fibre content to consist of certified organic fibres. The “made with x% organic materials” grade requires at least 70% certified organic fibres. Additional requirements apply to the remaining fibres.

The requirements cover areas such as the use of dyes and processing aids, wastewater management, human rights and working conditions in processing facilities. Compliance is verified by independent, approved certification bodies.

GOTS certification applies to the products specifically labelled as certified and does not cover our entire range.

For further information, visit the official GOTS website.

Fairtrade-certified cotton

Fairtrade works to improve trading conditions and empower cotton farmers. The Fairtrade Cotton Mark identifies products made with cotton that has been grown and traded in accordance with Fairtrade Standards.

Key elements include the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium. The minimum price provides a safety net when market prices are low. Producer organisations collectively decide how to invest the premium – for example, in education, healthcare or improvements to farming practices.

Fairtrade Standards cover social, economic and environmental requirements. Certified cotton is kept separate from non-Fairtrade-certified cotton during processing.

Comazo is certified by FLOCERT for trading and manufacturing products within the cotton certification scope. The Fairtrade Cotton Mark refers to the cotton used in the respective labelled product.
